For the duration of this course (and likely beyond), I will be trailing the New York Times website, nytimes.com. My reasons for choosing this site are two fold.
First, it’s a site that I actually use. I figure the most valuable observations will come when a site is digested in the way that a typical user will consume it. I do have to admit: I am a relatively new user. I just moved out of the print version’s standard circulation, and now I am turning to the online newpaper for my US news. But I think my inexperience with the site makes it an even better site to cover.
Second, it’s an online newspaper, and it is an interesting time for the news industry. The future of newspapers is being etched each time a standard paper stops its presses and every time another news website pops up. It will be interesting to watch the news unfold.
